Stop The Effects of Childhood Obesity

by Candace Right

No matter how we might try to sugarcoat it, childhood obesity is unhealthy. You don't have to look hard to find stories about how fatal this epidemic will be in the near future. Children are the future, and it's no wonder that so many people are terrified for them. You can't solve the world's problems yourself. If you are a parent, the best thing you can do is look at the future of your own child.

We know that the effects of childhood obesity are very dangerous. In fact, there are links to many different diseases from being an obese child. Heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure are just a few.

This is not to mention the other effects of childhood obesity. Children at school can be very cruel sometimes. Children that are overweight are often made the butt of many harsh jokes and laughter.

Being a child that is not accepted, and who is made fun of is miserable. They suffer every single day when no one invites them to birthday parties. No one asks them out to the school dance ("You're too fat!"). They certainly never get picked for the sports teams.

The more people see the effects of childhood obesity for themselves, the more we can hope that everyone will stand up and help put an end to this epidemic. But what can you do in the meantime? Make a difference today, starting with your own child. Encourage good eating habits: Teach your child the difference between the food that's good for them and the food that's unhealthy, and you will reduce or even put a stop to childhood obesity. It is every parent's responsibility to teach their child the right and wrong way to do things. When it comes to childhood obesity, your child counts on you to provide him or her a better quality of life. It's up to you. Don't abandon your child to a life full of sickness and sorrow. Begin with your own child, and put an end to this childhood obesity epidemic.
