Scars - What Occurs when your Skin is Injured?
A scar is a mark left on the skin after an injury. Injuries that affect your skin will result in some level of scarring. Scarring is a result of the natural healing process of our skin and the aspect of a scar depends on depth, size and location of the injury.
How does scarring occur and how can we help our skin to get rid of scars?
As stated in the introduction, scarring is the natural healing process of a wound. The skin is left with a scar when the thicker and deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) are damaged. The severity of the scar will depend on the seriousness of the wound.
Any time our skin gets injured by, for example an acne infection or a cut, various cells come to the rescue. This is the body's way of shielding itself from harm. It is a very complex healing process that usually causes scarring.
The healing process begins with the constriction of blood vessels which create clots to minimize blood loss. A scab or crust will shape over the top of the wound. This will act as a protective barrier against foreign substances, protecting the system whilst fixing the problem.
To repair the damage, the body has to accumulate new collagen fibers; a naturally occurring protein which is synthesized by the body. Collagen is a tough, fiber-like protein that makes up most of the scar tissue. In scar tissue, collagen is more numerous and more randomly arranged.
This mechanism results in a fortuna scar which is the most common type of scarring. It is signaled by the body's reaction of laying new collagen fibers over the wound. The body cannot identically reconstruct the tissue causing the new scar tissue to possess a different texture and quality than the nearby normal tissue. Scar tissue is usually of minor functional quality and less resistant to UV radiation. It is also barren of sweat glands and hair follicles.
Has your Skin been Scarred?
Skin affected by injuries will without doubt be affected by the consequences. That is why it is recommended that you use a treatment balm to prevent possible scar formation. Other incidents that should be treated to avoid scar tissue might include surgical procedures, cuts, accident and/or acne scars. A microdermabrasion solution that includes skin renewal activators and soft physical abrasives will effectively remove new and old scars.
Scars are an inevitable consequence of an injury. Our body tries its best to heal wounds, but sometimes it's difficult to avoid severe scar formation. The best recommendation is to use a microdermabrasion solution to aid the skin to properly remove scars.
