With severe cases, cystic acne treatment often works with a combination of isotreitinoin and antibiotics. Steroid injections may also be needed to help dissolve cysts and nodules quickly.

Some cysts may not respond properly to other treatment options and may, therefore, require surgery. Your physician may also try draining certain cysts.

Also, before and after having problems with cystic acne you should be vigilant with your cleansing routine. It is important that you cleanse your skin daily to keep it free from debris and excess oils. Remember, healthy skin is better equipped to handle aggression both from within and outside of the body.
