How Wrinkle Creams Work

by Jen Hopkins

Wrinkles form on the skin due to the effects of aging. Since most people do not want to be perceived as old, they would try a lot of things to make themselves look younger. Because of this, many techniques and procedures to eliminate or reduce the signs of aging have been developed.

Wrinkles start to form when we grow older and the body slows down its production of collagen and elastin. These are the proteins responsible for maintaining the elasticity of the skin, so that it returns to its original shape even when stretched. Unfortunately, due to the fewer proteins present as we grow older, the skin becomes less elastic and its tendency is to form permanent creases with constant folding of the skin in the same manner.

In addition to wrinkles and sagging skin, other signs of aging include puffiness and dark lines under the eyes. These are formed when the blood flow in this area slows down, which causes fluids to leak out. The accumulation of fluids causes the puffiness in this area as well as the dark lines.

With the many developments in science and technology, we have now discovered how these signs of aging arise. Because of these, many ways have also been developed as to how to combat these effects. One example of the results of these studies is the creation of wrinkle creams, which are now very accessible on the market.

Different creams take different approaches when it comes to getting rid of wrinkles. Some creams work specifically for the eyes by increasing cell regeneration so that younger cells may replace older ones. Others also stimulate better circulation so that fluids can be better moved and puffiness under the eyes will be eliminated.

Other creams focus on the elimination of wrinkles. These mostly work by increasing cell regeneration so that older cells are replaced, just like eye creams. In addition to this, they also stimulate collagen and elastin production so that the skin can regain its elasticity and wrinkles may be reduced or eliminated.

Some characteristics that may be common for all creams are their ability to moisturize the skin. Hydrated skin is more resistant to damage thus the aging effects are also slowed down. Antioxidants are almost always included in creams as well due to their effects against free radicals. Free radicals are wastes that tend to accumulate and cause damage to cells. By eliminating these wastes, the speed of the aging process is also drastically decreased.

Avoid having those wrinkles and puffiness under the eyes by using wrinkle creams today. As you have read, these creams are specially made to combat the effects of aging. As long as you choose a cream that is compatible with your skin, you won't have to spend lots of money on expensive procedures. This will also take a few minutes of your time each day so it won't be a hassle to use.
